Semifinals: The Other Side

Semifinals: The Other Side

In my month of meticulous research, I have learned that there are flaws to a bracket system. Sometimes two very good candidates match up and only one of them can advance to the next round; sometimes two “meh” flavors are up to bat (mixed metaphors??) and one of them makes it through. Today we are seeing the outcomes of each of these scenarios, for a clear winner between the two.

Tillamook is a nationally-sold brand based out of Oregon, and describes their cookies ‘n’ cream as “rich French vanilla ice cream with crunchy cookie pieces.” The package touts more cookies! More flavor! More cream! All right, but yes, this stuff is great.

Hiland is a regional/local-to-me brand, and this is technically “cookie overload” from their premium line, described as “vanilla ice cream loaded with chocolate cookie pieces.” Perfectly adequate for vegging in front of the tv, but nothing about it stands out.

This week’s cookie goes to Tillamook. Let’s talk finals. So far Tillamook has faced off against two regional brands, both a beloved store brand and the wholesome school milk provider. Next week pairs Tillamook against regional fave Belfonte. Will the Oregon original continue its dominance? Will Belfonte continue its upset streak? What do you think??
