Carry-out: Southern Charm/Decadent

I recently found myself at a mall to buy a birthday present for a friend and right across the street I spotted a poorly-marked spot with pink canopies. I squinted to read the window paint. “Five simple ingredients: butterfat, eggs, milk, air, love.” I paused to think about those ingredients. I decided to investigate after my shopping.

Given that it was a snowy day during a pandemic, there was not much going on, but I’ll tell ya what I saw. Gelato: check. Fancy cakes: check. Coffee: check. This spot appears to be a combo of the chains Southern Charm Gelato and Decadent Dessert Bar (both have very basic websites that list the same man as the founder).

I must admit, I LOVE GELATO. So pretty. So fluffy. So rich. My previous fave gelato place closed before I could blog about it, unfortunately!! I’m intrigued that I found this spot not too far from me… and I don’t think I could have found it any other way besides stumbling across it like I did! They don’t appear to be very “online.” At least it wasn’t listed on Google Maps the day I was there.

Given the spontaneity of the visit, my stomach was not prepared for a super-instagrammable huge treat, but my one scoop of cookies n cream was very pleasant! I’ll def keep this in mind as an option that is not too far away from my ice cream-barren ‘burb. Which do you like better, gelato or ice cream? I say, the more the merrier, bring it all on!!!
