PROGRAMMING NOTE: This blog post is being published at a significant time delay from my actual visit. I am currently practicing physical distancing/self-isolating/etc in the interests of doing my part for public health. I haven’t decided whether it would feel ok to slip out and grab ice cream to support a local business, but for now I am erring on the side of staying home. I started this blog as a celebration of something fun and positive in a world where that sort of content can be hard to find. My previously scheduled posts will still publish Wednesdays at noon central. Please know that I am also very concerned about the state of things, and please join me in a moment’s distraction with these fun treats and pics.

I didn’t grow up with a Culver’s around, so the special place it holds for me has been more recently developed. Culver’s hosts fundraisers for school groups and I’ve participated in those for a few years and been in charge of them (on the school end) this year. They give us a lot of money, and are so welcoming and kind to our students!! The delicious frozen custard is the icing on the cake.

Our first fundraiser for this season was a month ago. In the last minutes where orders counted for our total, after 3 hours of wrangling students who were volunteering to deliver orders, I heaved myself to the counter and ordered a mint oreo concrete. What size, the kind teenager behind the register asked. Big???, was all I could respond. Well, ASKED AND ANSWERED, folks! Check out Culver’s for all your “big ice cream” needs, LOL.

Our second fundraiser night was an even bigger success in terms of $$$. The custard of the day was Oreo Cheesecake, so I indulged with a cone at the end of the night! THANK YOU, CULVERS!
