Yum!

Savor some sweetness with me, won’t you?

Betty Rae's Part I

Betty Rae's Part I

Betty Rae’s! How I love thee, let me count the ways. I’d be happy to eat there all of my days. Ahem, I can save the poetry for down the road a ways…

Without an ice cream shop in my own neighborhood, I really think of Betty Rae’s as my ice cream home away from home! There are two locations and I tend to be drawn to the one in the River Market.

Betty Rae’s does everything well. Everything is made in-house; the sauces, the cookies, the brownies, the waflle cones. I generally stand by the fact that I don’t have a favorite ice cream (I love it all) but Betty Rae’s has the finest waffle cone I’ve ever met. They’re pressed and molded behind the counter and once or twice I’ve received one hot off the presses. You HAVE to try a waffle cone! As to what to put in it, Betty Rae’s has it all. The classics - cookies n cream, brown butter toasted pecan, creme brulee caramel! The ingredient-specific - non-dairy chocolate, vegan vanilla, colorful sorbets! And the inventive, oooh the inventive. Passion fruit dreamsicle, peach pie, pretzel of the apes, pawpaw fruit, and this trip’s tastes, Arnold Palmer and Peach Habanero Buttermilk Biscuit (!!!!). A veritable party for my mouth. And y’all I gotta go back because they just introduced Hatch Chile Chocolate.

Anyhow I go there all the time* and you will see much more of Betty Rae’s here at Sweet Tooth Tracy. What’s your home base for ice cream?

*I once made it 3 times in 24 hours. That’s normal. It’s fine.
