Kansas City Taste Box
Peek behind the curtain - I discovered Kansas City Taste Box via a gift card I received for my birthday. My… spring birthday. Here we are, what can I say, I’m doing my best!!
So far I have gotten 2 of these delightful boxes. I can’t find a whole lot of info about the Taste Box biz online but I did find an early interview. The premise is you pick up the box where a variety of treats centered around a theme have been curated for you, and then there’s a google form to submit your rankings. While it is against the premise of this site to say bad things about desserts, it’s a fun time! I share the treats with my parents and we rank them together.
My favorite bar was the Magic Bar from Bake My Day (top left) and I believe it won overall, too. The scones box (below) had both sweet and savory and shockingly, my favorite was the Scallion Asiago Everything scone from The Pantry KC. However, the winner Cinnamon Chip with Coffee Drizzle from Joelle’s Baked with Love was also an absolute dream!
What theme would you curate for a box of local goodies? And/or, how would you do an ice cream sampler, logistically?? Hmm, lots of coolers and ice packs. I’d include Betty Rae’s, One More Scoop, Fairway Creamery… what else? Those are my standards for locally-made ice cream, I think. Sweet EMOtion for some variety.
