Yum!

Savor some sweetness with me, won’t you?

Frozen Gold opened in Westport sometime this summer, following the original spot in Colorado Springs. The KC location is in one of those “food hall” type venues - one building with multiple food spots to suit everyone’s needs. Trendy! Chic! I recently spent a Saturday wearing my mask and exploring some new places from a distance, and Frozen Gold was on my list.

With the neon sign and retro vibes, Frozen Gold knows it’s cool. I ordered using my usual strategy for the “for the gram” kind of places - I asked, “what’s the most instagrammable nonsense you’ve got?” Now, some people respond to this better than others, and the nice young people behind the counter looked at me with dead eyes and reported that everything is instagrammable. Touche! I ended up with the Gone Campin: chocolate soft serve, candied nuts, chocolate covered graham, and toasted marshmallow fluff.

It was quite delicious. The flavors all played well together, and the toasted marshmallow fluff around and IN the base of the was so fun and festive. I also appreciate the little paper vessel to slightly prevent the whole thing from dripping onto your hand.

My only complaint was that the preponderance of marshmallow fluff made this sucker hard to eat when you got down to the end of it. I was walking outside and did not have access to a sink, so I was loathe to get my whole face covered in marshmallow and/or chocolate ice cream by diving in and enjoying it. It’s a rough life!! What would you try at Frozen Gold? The cotton candy ice cream cone looks intense but I don’t know that I actually want to eat that much cotton candy…
