Stay Home: Brown Butter Toasted Pecan

I’ve tried my hand at the classic flavor Brown Butter Toasted Pecan before, and it wasn’t… quite right. The candied pecans were too solid, the base was too syrupy. Don’t get me wrong, I sure ate it! But I knew I could do better. Enter my good friend, Sweet Cream and Sugar Cones from Bi-Rite Creamery.

She is beauty, she is grace, she has a MUCH more pleasant taste! This batch turned out fresh and buttery, and the toasted pecans (rather than candied) were the icing on the cake! or the topping on the ice cream.

Wheel of ice-creamery, churn churn churn, tell us the lesson that we should… ok, that was a deep-cut Animaniacs ref, and can I be real with you? I am N E R V O U S about the Animaniacs reboot. The cartoon was my impassioned fave for my entire childhood - highlights include my favorite episode (King Yakko) airing on my birthday in first grade, and my later elementary joke, “I have a picture of my boyfriend in my wallet” before presenting Wakko pictured on my Animaniacs wallet. But you know what there are very few of in Animaniacs (including in the trailer for the new stuff)? Non-male characters. So… we will see. Fingers crossed for a minimal amount of toxic masculinity. I dunno, eat ice cream and watch cartoons. Stay safe out there!
