Farewell to Peppermint
It’s been a delicious winter tour of the peppermint ice cream offerings in my area and beyond… Ice Cream Bae! One More Scoop! Poppy’s! Velvet Freeze! And today is the final stop (unless I find some rogue peppermint this spring!), with the Peppermint Bark at Betty Rae’s. With a minty base, fudge swirl, and candy cane chunks, I enjoyed this flavor both in a waffle cone and in a pie.
This work of art just screams “Christmas,” don’t you think? I may be a couple weeks late but do what gives you joy, I say, and peppermint ice cream gives me joy no matter the season! However, kind of like my fave candy bar (dark chocolate kit kat), the fact that it’s a little harder to find does help it stay “special” :)
One of my favorite things about Betty Rae’s is that you can divide the scoops up into smaller portions. Here I ordered a “big scoop" and divided it into 3 mini-scoops for a festive sampler. Santa’s milk and cookies is in the cone (described as seven types of fresh baked cookies swirling in a sweet cream base), our friend peppermint bark is on the left, and the right is the surprisingly delicious sweet cranberry swirl. The cranberry was very lovely and photogenic but can’t compare to the beauty that is peppermint bark if you ask me. Ha!
It’s been a delicious season!
