Pie Oh My
I’ve vaguely been aware for a while now that ice cream places sell holiday pies, but this is the first time I’ve acted on that knowledge. Blame it on my ongoing addiction to Betty Rae’s, and the incredibly affordable price!
Betty Rae’s pies include a hand-made crust filled with their incredible ice cream, topped with the finest of flavors. I saw pie construction in action when I went in to pick mine up! I opted for butter pecan to share with my parents on the day before Thanksgiving. This pie was filled with brown butter toasted pecan ice cream and topped with toasted pecans and house-made salted caramel sauce. YOWZA. As good as you are imagining that tasting, it was 10% better than THAT. At 6 slices, each slice costs the same as a single scoop in a waffle cone, which is a great deal if you ask me! You can customize a pie with any flavors and toppings that suit your fancy.
And unlike many chain custard places, no upcharge for ALL THE PECANS! It was so spectacular. And plenty of protein ;)
I took my cousin for waffle cones while I went in to pick up the pie. Her first Betty Rae’s excursion, and I think she’s a convert! I got cookies n cream and pumpkin cheesecake, and she got mint chocolate cookie and brown butter toasted pecan (always a fave). Also I was *utterly shooketh* at all the people picking up pies without getting any right-now ice cream! Ha. I sure couldn’t do it - how about you? I say ice cream now AND ice cream later :)
