Stay Home: Strawberry a la Betty
All right! I was never much of a fruit person growing up. Grandpa would fire up the White Mountain wooden ice cream churn, and I’d get so excited, only to find out he was making peach ice cream! Yuck! Ha… I have since learned better, don’t worry. While I haven’t made peach ice cream yet, I was delighted when Betty Rae’s shared their strawberry recipe! (And I had better luck than I did with their BBTP.)
One innovation this time: Shatto milk. While I have conflicted feelings about their delivery service (related to their incessant use of gendered language as well as their hilarious referral credit system), all my ice cream cookbooks say to use the best ingredients for the best ice cream. So, woo to premium ice cream!
I recently wrote about how my flavor options were limited due to not owning the proper kitchen appliances, and generous friends have given me both an immersion blender and a food processor as a result of that. THANK YOU! So, uh, the next thing I would like to manifest from a blog post would be… I would like to see police departments abolished and replaced with a robust array of social services that respond to crises by helping instead of with violence. Okay? Let’s do it. Make some calls, y’alls.
Anyhow, this was Betty Rae’s strawberry ice cream, made with Salt and Straw’s ice cream base. It was really good! I ended up with a surplus of strawberries and froze several more batches’ worth. Good stuff! What’s your favorite frozen fruit flavor?
