Mad Cakes: Rolled Ice Cream

Mad Cakes: Rolled Ice Cream

I proclaimed my bold return with tidings of extremely-local-to-me Mad Cakes, and I’m back today with some specifics about one of their specialties: rolled ice cream!

First, let’s talk vibes. You know I love an aesthetic. Mad Cakes’ pink exterior had me quite intrigued well before the storefront opened. Inside you’ll find a ceiling decorated with sprinkles; hand-painted murals on ever wall; and a pink Christmas tree year-round with seasonal and treats-themed ornaments. Sweet Tooth Tracy catnip, is the overall effect! Throw in delicious desserts and spectacular service and you have no idea how much restraint it takes to not stop in every time I drive by (which is frequently).

Rolled ice cream is just one of the totally customizable options offered; watch this space for more about the Build-Your-Own Cupcakes! Longtime readers may recall that rolled ice cream is often very delicious but can also go very wrong. Let me assure you, Mad Cakes has got it RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT! Pictured about is Peanut Butter Blast, with a vanilla base; mix-ins of reeses and peanut butter syrup; and toppings of chocolate syrup, peanut butter syrup, and reeses. It sure hit the spot!

On another visit I tried the Butter Biscoff, featuring a vanilla base with biscoff and butterscotch syrup mixed in and as toppings. I really appreciate that Mad Cakes has a menu of pre-designed flavor combos for rolled ice cream - I am someone who can be very overwhelmed by limitless options. You can also create your own flavor mix, or customize one off the menu to better suit you, but I like having a little guidance! Both flavors I’ve tried so far have been absolutely spectacular! I can’t wait to go back and try some more. Check their instagram for happy hour promotions!
